We welcome International Students into our school community and value the rich cultural mix they bring to our learning environment. We have an excellent reputation for quality education and care of our International Students so you can be confident that your daughter will be well looked after in a nurturing and welcoming environment.
International Students either stay in the boarding house, with homestay families, or make their own arrangements with family.
Our Dean of International Students and Pastoral team provides students with a comprehensive orientation of the school upon their arrival and they have access to small ESOL classes where they can develop their English language skills.
We are a signatory to the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.
Applications from overseas students wishing to study at Waikato Diocesan are welcomed.
We accept applications for short or long term placements at our school. To find out more about studying at Waikato Diocesan School for Girls as an international student, please click on the following links.

Thank you for considering hosting an International student through Waikato Diocesan School for Girls. We accept around 30 international students a year from a range of countries such as Korea, China, Japan, Thailand and Hong Kong. Students from Years 9 to13 are accepted. In many cases, international students come to New Zealand to improve their English. Others may come here for family reasons or to complete qualifications to gain entry into a University. International students choose homestay accommodation to help learn English faster and for a family environment.
Fulltime Homestay families are paid $280 a week. This should be paid two weeks in advance. Payment for short term stays is $150 for weekend stays of 2 nights, $40 for any additional nights. All students prepay their homestay accommodation to school so payment arrangements should not be made directly with the students.
Please read our Homestay Information Pamphlet and feel free to contact us should you have any questions.
