We welcome International students into our school community and value the rich cultural mix they bring to our learning environment. We have an excellent reputation for quality education and care of our International Students. You can be confident that your daughter will be well looked after in a nurturing and welcoming environment.
International Students will stay in our on site boarding houses. During school holidays students will be placed into homestay with local families.
On arrival we provide all students with a comprehensive school orientation. Students also have access to small ESOL classes to develop their English language skills with our International Dean.
We are a signatory to the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.

A Home away from Home
Waikato Diocesan School for Girls offers a nurturing and enriching educational experience for girls in Years 9-13, welcoming international students to choose between two accommodation options: boarding in our comfortable school hostels. During school holidays students are placed into the homes of local families, who are carefully selected by our school.
Boarding at Dio provides a close-knit, supportive community within the school itself. Boarders live in age-group-based houses, enjoying all-inclusive meals, centrally heated and furnished rooms, and spacious lounge areas for socialising. Professional, nurturing boarding staff create a safe and positive home away from home, fostering strong friendships and a sense of belonging.
For international students, both boarding offers unique benefits. Boarding fosters a strong sense of community within the school, while homestay provides a personalised family experience and deeper cultural immersion. It's important to note that the boarding house closes for two to three weekends each term (exeats) and end-of-term holidays. Therefore, International students are required to have an exeat homestay family to care for them during these times. The International Department will arrange a suitable homestay family to ensure each student's happiness and well-being during exeats and school holidays.
Waikato Diocesan School for Girls is committed to providing a safe and caring environment where all students can grow into confident, responsible young adults.
