Week 1 (NB Boarding van transport not available this week)

Tuesday, 27 January:

• Year 9 students with parents arrive in full school uniform for a welcome and afternoon tea by 3.00 pm. Please enter via Gate 1 or Gate 2 on River Road, leave baggage in vehicles and enter boarding via Bishops Hall or go straight to Selwyn Dining Room. NB: Dinner for Year 9 students and student leaders will be at 6pm. (Year 9 parents will depart boarding before by 5.30pm). Year 13 boarding prefects attending prefect training return from 6pm.

Wednesday, 28 January:

• Year 9 Orientation – the first day of school. Meet in the Chapel at 8.30am in full school summer uniform.

• Year 13 Camp departs at 12pm

• Year 10 to 12 boarders return from 5pm. NB: The dining room will only be open for Year 9 students.

NB: Packed lunches for Year 9 boarders to be made at breakfast.

Thursday, 29 January:

• Year 9 Orientation continues (DRESS in PE shorts and House Colour TShirt and sneakers)

• Year 10-12 first day of school. Meet in the Chapel at 8.30 am. P2 Year 10-12 teaching and learning programmes start.

NB: Packed lunches for all boarders to be made at breakfast.

Friday, 30 January:

• Year 12 Ryda Road Safety Education 8.30am to 1pm

• Year 13 return from camp late

• Friday 30 January 5pm to Sunday 1 February 5pm. NEW BOARDERS AND BOARDING MENTORS ONLY BOARDING ‘In-Weekend’ to Rainbows End, AUCKLAND (see article and Consent to Go communication for details). Only boarders starting in 2026 and their mentors are to attend. All other boarders are expected to go home for the weekend.

NB: The dining room is only open for new boarders, staff and their boarding mentors for Sunday dinner.

Week 2 (Boarding van transportation starts this week)

• Sunday, 1 February: ALL boarders are back in boarding (between 5-7.00 pm). NB: Dining room open only for those students that attended the Boarding Mentors and New Boarders Weekend.

• Monday, 2 February: WHOLE SCHOOL RETURNS for POOWHIRI 8.30am in Chapel

• Thursday 5 February to Sunday 8 February: WAITANGI BOARDING EXEAT WEEKEND: the boarding houses will be closed at 5.00 pm for the long weekend. NB: All students are expected to return between 5 and 7.00 pm on Sunday 8, February, to prepare well for the first ‘regular’ week. This includes all senior students.

Week 3

• Monday, 9 February: Commissioning of New Staff & Investiture of Student Leaders at Chapel

• Tuesday, 10 February: Parents’ Association Meeting 6pm Staffroom

• Friday 13 February to Saturday 14 February. BOARDING ‘In-Weekend’ to Skyline Skyrides, ROTORUA (see article and Consent to Go communication for details). Students can apply for leave from 5.30 pm Saturday.

Week 4

• Tuesday, 17 February: Shrove Tuesday

• Wednesday, 18 February: Ash Wednesday

• Thursday, 19 February: Swimming Sports at Dio Pool

• Friday, 20 February – World Day of Social Justice. Year 9 Meet the Teacher Evening 3.45pm followed by PTA Mix & Mingle 5pm followed by Year 9 Boarding Whaanau dinner 6pm in Selwyn Dining Room.

Week 5

• Thursday, 26 February – Athletics Day at Porritts Stadium

• Friday, 27 February to Sunday, 1 March: BOARDING EXEAT WEEKEND – the boarding houses will be closed at 5.00 pm for the weekend. Students must return on Sunday by 7.00 pm or Monday morning before 8.00 am. (The dining room is closed on Sunday.)

• Sunday, 1 March: International Department BBQ around the pool 4pm

Week 6 – BOOK MONTH – March into Reading

• Tuesday, 3 March: Cuppa at the Kura 4.30pm in PMC Foyer followed by Whaanau hui in PM7

• Friday, 6 March: International Women’s Day

Week 7

• Monday 9 March: Year 10 Dance & Drama Tri8p to Hamilton Gardens

• Tuesday, 10 March: Year 13 Physics Trip to Rainbows End

• Friday, 13 March: School Open Day

• Sunday, 15 March –  House Services for Blake, Hillary and Ross at 7.00 pm in Chapel. Students in these houses must return to boarding by 6.00 pm to attend this chapel service. Full school uniform to be worn.

Week 8

• Wednesday, 18 March to Friday, 20 March Year 9 School Camp – Ngaaruawaahia

• Friday, 20 March – International Day of Happiness and World Poetry Day

• Friday, 20 March to Sunday, 22 March: BOARDING EXEAT WEEKEND – the boarding houses will be closed at 5.00 pm for the weekend. Students must return on Sunday by 7.00 pm or Monday morning before 8.00 am. (The dining room is closed on Sunday.)

Week 9 – Summer Tournament

• Sunday 29 March – Palm Sunday

Week 10 – End of Term Clean Up

• Holy Week before Easter Weekend

• Tuesday 31, March: Year 10 Challenge Day

• Thursday, 1 April – MAUNDY THURSDAY End of Term Chapel 3.20 pm end of school day/term. The boarding houses are closed from 5.00 pm for Term 1 holidays.

NB: For catering purposes, weekend leave must be approved/endorsed by parents each week before Wednesday 8.00 pm at the latest.

Term 2

• Sunday, 10 April – Boarding students are expected to return to boarding between 5 and 7.00 pm. NB: the dining room will NOT be open on this day.

• Monday, 21 April – the first day of school for Term 2

• Wednesday, 22 April to Friday 24 April: Year 11 Marae Camp

• Friday 24 April to Monday 27 April: ANZAC BOARDING EXEAT WEEKEND. Boarders leave by 5pm on Friday and return to boarding from 5pm on Anzac Day or by 8am on Tuesday 28 April.
