Boarding-Teaching Houseparent

We are looking for an energetic and caring person to work in the friendly family environment of our Boarding establishment.  Nurturing our girls and helping them to reach their full potential is the key focus of this role.

Reporting to the Dean of Boarding, key responsibilities for this role include ensuring students are cared for physically, emotionally and spiritually.  This role oversees the day-to-day operation of the boarding house, ensuring the girls’ boarding experience is positive and conducive to their learning and development.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills with the ability to foster positive, harmonious relationships with girls and families. Previous experience in a school or boarding facility would be highly desirable. Commitment to the school’s special character is essential.

On-site accommodation will be provided.  This position will commence during Term 1, 2019.

Itinerant Music Teacher - Vocals (readvertised)

Permanent, up to 22 hours per week

The Waikato Itinerant Music Scheme (based at Waikato Diocesan School for Girls) provides students with high quality music tuition within participating schools across the Waikato

We seek a qualified, highly effective and inspiring Vocal teacher. Applicants must have:

  • skills and experience in teaching a wide range of vocal styles; 
  • a good understanding of the Music curriculum (Years 9-13); 
  • the ability to assist with performance preparation and assessment up to NCEA Level 3;
  • knowledge of Trinity and ABRSM examinations.

The ability to direct both large vocal ensembles (Barbershop and Choral - SATB), and small vocal ensembles (quartets) to a competitive level would be an advantage. 

Flexibility within repertoire and a willingness to work with the varying requirements of a diverse range of music departments are expected.

The successful applicant needs to have current NZ teacher registration (preferred) or a Limited Authority to Teach (LAT).  A current driver's licence and own transport are also essential for travelling between allocated schools (a mileage allowance will be paid).

HOD Religious Education

Fulltime, permanent
1 RRR unit (equivalent to 1MU)

Religious Education is a compulsory subject for all of our students. We seek an experienced teacher of RE to take leadership of the Department and oversee delivery of the curriculum at every year level.

Applicants must be committed to the school’s special character and be willing to be involved in the extracurricular life of the school.

It is anticipated that duties will commence at the beginning of Term 1 2019, or by negotiation.
