Assistant Chef

We are looking for an experienced and energetic Assistant Chef to join our Catering team. Our catering team caters for 160 boarders and also for various school functions and events. The dining room is open seven days a week during term time and also caters for holiday use of the boarding and school facilities.

Reporting to the Catering Manager, the successful applicant will have well-developed time management and organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail.  An ability to communicate with and relate well to students, along with exceptional customer service, is essential.

Key requirements for the role include staff supervision, food preparation, cooking, dining room attendance and other key catering functions.  Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.

The successful candidate will be required to work full time 11.30am to 8pm Monday to Friday. The role is predominantly term time, with the requirement for some hours during term breaks.

This role will commence in mid-January 2020.

Commercial Manager

Reporting to the Principal, the purpose of this role is to provide leadership and coordination for the major non-teaching support areas of the school including finance, risk management (including insurance, health & safety and HR), property management and catering. The role will also have responsibility for the school shop and IT operational infrastructure.

Primary responsibilities will involve leading strategic and operational business and financial planning for the school, and ensuring the delivery of cost effective and commercially-oriented support services. The provision of well-formulated business advice and support to the Principal, Senior Management Team and the school’s two Boards will be important aspects of the position.

Key attributes sought for the position include:

  • Previous experience in a senior commercially-oriented management role, ideally with finance, risk, property and project management responsibilities;
  • A proven ability to effectively lead and develop a team;
  • An innovative and strategic thinker with initiative, who is willing to take a “hands on” approach as required;
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills;
  • High quality planning and organisational skills, attention to detail and the delivery of quality support and advice;
  • An empathy for the special character of Dio.

Ideally you will be a member of ICANZ, but this is not essential. This is a pivotal and influential role in the school, and there will be opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Boarding Houseparent

We are looking for an energetic and caring person to work in the friendly family environment of our Boarding establishment. Nurturing our girls and helping them to reach their full potential is the key focus of this role.

Reporting to the Dean of Boarding, the key responsibilities for this role include ensuring students are cared for physically, emotionally
and spiritually. This role oversees the day-to-day operation of the boarding house, ensuring the girls’ boarding experience is positive and conducive to their learning and development.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills with the ability to foster positive harmonious relationships with girls and families. Previous experience in a school or boarding facility would be highly desirable. Commitment to the school’s special character is
