Swimming Record beaten by Gina McCarthy

Gina McCarthy Year 9 competed at a Regional Waikato swimming meet in Taupo in the weekend (11-12th June).

She broke a NZ record by 1 second for the 800 metre Short course 13 yr old's in a time of 9:03.75

In addition Gina was selected for a NZ team that headed to Australia in March to compete in the Georgina Hope foundation- Age Group Swimming Champs- Gina made the finals in most of her events and also was awarded a Bronze medal in the 200IM.

Gina and another Dio Girl, Sarah Miller have also been selected for the NZ Talent Indentification Programme- these girls are the only two Waikato Swimmers to be selected for this programme.

A big congratulations to you Gina and also to Sarah. Fantastic achievements
