Our School & Community
We are a school that listens. We believe that people feel valued if they have a voice and can make a difference.
Parents have the opportunity to be involved in school life by joining our Parent Teacher Association or Board of Trustees. We are fortunate to have committees and supportive governance bodies who work closely with the school. The Proprietor's Board represents the interests of the Waikato Diocese and has a particular responsibility to preserve and safeguard the special character of the school, as well as acting as agent for the owner of the land and buildings which constitute the school.
Alternatively, parents can support the school and their daughters by helping with, and supporting the schools many events and fundraising activities.
Communication with parents is considered a two-way partnership. Information evenings are held throughout the year, giving opportunities for parents to discuss their daughters' progress with their teachers, and to share in goal setting for learning.
Our Student Council is an important forum for debate and change at Dio. Everyone has a chance to contribute and everyone has a voice, enabling our students to take special pride and ownership of their school community.
Our Sonning and Waikato Diocesan Old Girls' Association ensures that our students maintain a life-long relationship with the school and the opportunity to foster the bonds of friendship made through the formative school years. The Association also offers an Old Girls' Scholarships to those families of Old Girls who would otherwise be unable to afford a Dio education.
Waikato Diocesan is a welcoming, vibrant and dynamic school with high standards: A community of teamwork and participation with an excellent record of achievement. We have confidence in our young women and we are committed to ensuring that they are fully supported in their learning journey.
